Industrial-RefineryWhy synthetic? Because synthetic lubricants are superior to conventional petroleum lubricants. Petroleum lubricants are refined from crude oil, a natural substance pumped from the earth and containing diverse chemicals. Some of the chemicals in petroleum oil are detrimental to the lubrication process and to the lubricated components. For example, some petroleum oil chemicals invite oxidation in high temperature operations. Oxidation quickly destroys lubricant integrity.

Synthetic lubes, on the other hand, are not refined from crude oil, but designed (vs. refined) and engineered from pure chemicals selected for their ability to lubricate. The purity of synthetic lubricant basestocks significantly reduces lubricant oxidation, which promotes the ability of synthetics to be used in higher temperature applications than conventional lubes may be and promotes their ability to be used for extended drain intervals. In fact, AMSOIL synthetic lubricants are specifically formulated for extended drain intervals.

AMSOIL Synthetic PC Series Compressor Oils are highly resistant to thermal and oxidative breakdown, which inhibits carbon build-up. SIROCCO™ effectively prevents wear, oxidation, foam and rust, while its inherent lubricity and thermal conductivity reduce heat and energy consumption, increasing operating efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.

Application Recommendations

Industrial-ProcessAMSOIL SIROCCO™ Synthetic Compressor Oil is a multi-viscosity oil meeting the requirements of 5W-20. It may be used in applications calling for either an ISO-32 or ISO-46 compressor oil or coolant and is recommended for use in single- and multi-stage rotary screw compressors and vacuum pumps that call for this viscosity.

AMSOIL SIROCCO™ Synthetic Compressor Oil resists oxidation, foaming and rust for extended drain performance. It is also biodegradable under the CEC-L33-A94 standard.

AMSOIL SIROCCO™ Synthetic Compressor Oil has higher flash fire and auto ignition points than competitive petroleum oils. Its resistance to carbon formation and its ashless additive system minimize the incidence of deposits acting as ignition-promoting hot spots.

AMSOIL SIROCCO™ Synthetic Compressor Oil safely replaces PAG type compressor oils, such as Ingersoll-Rand SSR Ultra-Coolant® or Sullair Sullube 32®, following normal oil change procedures, without extensive flushing.

AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Antiwear Hydraulic Oils are long life lubricants based on high quality synthetic oil technology. These oils are formulated with a premium additive system that inhibits oxidation, acid production, viscosity increase, rust and foam for outstanding component protection and plosive equipment performance.

AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Antiwear Hydraulic Oils are formulated for long life and typically reduce maintenance costs by extending drain intervals and reducing labor associated with repairs, down time and change outs.

Application Recommendations
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Antiwear Hydraulic Oils are recommended for high and low pressure gear, vane and piston stationary and mobile hydraulic systems. They are available in many viscosity grades; choose the grade recommended by the equipment manufacturer.

AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Antiwear Hydraulic Oils meet the performance requirements of all major hydraulic manufacturers and are excellent for general purpose use where extended drain intervals are desired or in severe duty operations where temperature extremes are encountered. The ISO 15 and 22 grade products, AWF and AWG, are preferred for use in temperatures -20°F or lower.

AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Antiwear Hydraulic Oils resist thermal and oxidative breakdown, inhibiting carbon and varnish deposits. Deposit-free hydraulic equipment outlasts and outperforms deposit-laden equipment. Machinery lubricated with AMSOIL Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid runs cooler than machinery lubricated with conventional fluids. Cooler operation promotes long life for hoses, seals and other components.

AMSOIL Synthetic Biodegradable Hydraulic Oil
AMSOIL Synthetic BHO Biodegradable Hydraulic Oil is a premium lubricant designed to biodegrade to its natural state when subjected to sunlight, water and microbial activity. Manufactured with a high-quality blend of oleic vegetable oils and customized synthetic esters, it meets the U.S. Federal bio-based procurement guidelines as defined in Section 9002 of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (FSRIA) .

AMSOIL BHO is hydrolytically stable and ideal for use where water contamination is a problem. Carefully designed additives help prevent pump wear and protect critical components from rust. AMSOIL BHO Biodegradable Hydraulic Oil meets the stringent Vickers M-2950-S and I-286-S specifications, and is 95% biodegradable (CEC-L-33-A-93).

AMSOIL Synthetic RC Series Gear and Bearing Oils
AMSOIL Synthetic RC Series Gear and Bearing Oils are primarily recommended for gear and bearing applications and circulating systems requiring A&O and/or anti-wear additive technology. Made from high quality synthetic base stocks and additive systems, AMSOIL RC Series lubricants effectively prevent wear and protect equipment by maintaining viscosity, resisting thermal and oxidative breakdown, incorporating anti-wear additives, preventing rust and resisting the degrading effects of water.

The high viscosity index and low pour points of AMSOIL RC Series lubricants allow for extended temperature protection and performance. AMSOIL RC Series Oils remain fluid at cold temperatures, providing easier startups, quick lubricant circulation and limiting the need for sump heaters. AMSOIL Synthetic SG Series Extreme Pressure Gear Oils are made from shear stable, high quality synthetic base oils and are fortified with additives that deliver high performance in industrial gear applications. These oils are designed to reduce maintenance costs by extending equipment life, extending drain intervals and protecting against wear, pitting and rust.

Application Recommendations
AMSOIL Synthetic SG Series Extreme Pressure Gear Oils are recommended for industrial applications operating under heavy loads and shock conditions and specifying an extreme pressure lubricant. This includes, but is not limited to, enclosed industrial spur, bevel, herringbone, helical and worm gears*, chain drives, sprockets and most metal-on-metal systems requiring extreme pressure additives.

*AMSOIL Synthetic SG Series Extreme Pressure Gear Oils are not recommended for use in worm gear or yellow metal containing applications operating at or above 200°F (93°C). Also not recommended for use in other applications operating at or above 250°F (171°C). Usually the RC Series is used for these applications. For such applications, please consult us first.

AMSOIL SG Series Gear Oils meet the AGMA ratings for synthetic gear oils and EP gear oils and are recommended for use in applications specifying these standards.

AMSOIL Synthetic SG Series Extreme Pressure Gear Oils are highly resistant to oxidation, providing unsurpassed protection and performance for extended drain intervals. Their high viscosity indices, low pour points and lack of paraffins (wax) make them ideal for wide operating temperature ranges.

AMSOIL SG Series Oils are also hydrolytically stable, readily separating from water and preventing oil/water emulsions.

AMSOIL SG Oils are fully formulated with sulphur/phosphorus extreme pressure additives, antioxidants, rust inhibitors and anti-foam agents. The thermally stable, extreme-pressure additive systems forms a hard, iron-sulfide coating on metal components, preventing metal-to-metal contact under boundary lubrication conditions, reducing friction and protecting components against shock loading and wear.
