HP Marine: High Performance, Low Aquatic Toxicity

Get Hours of Trouble-Free Enjoyment out of your Two-Stroke Outboard and Personal Watercraft (PWC) this Season Maintaining today’s two-stroke marine motors can intimidate even experienced enthusiasts. Like passenger cars/light trucks, many two-stroke outboard motors come equipped with computerized controls and sophisticated fuel-injection systems designed to deliver the extra power enthusiasts want while providing the reduced exhaust emissions the government mandates. The leaner gas-to-oil ratios these engines use mean less oil is available to lubricate and protect a hotter, more powerful engine, inviting deposits and wear that threaten engine performance and life. Using AMSOIL HP Marine Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil is one […]

Chrysler Adjusts Motor Oil Consumption Guidelines

Chrysler Motor Oil Consumption Guidelines Chrysler has adjusted its acceptable motor oil consumption guidelines for 2012-2013 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep gasoline vehicles (Chrysler Bulletin #09-001-12 Engine Oil Consumption Guideline): First 50,000 miles of engine life: one quart per 2,000 miles Engines with over 50,000 miles: one quart per 750 miles Aggressive driving conditions: one quart per 500 miles AMSOIL recommends all customers check their motor oil levels on a regular basis until an oil consumption pattern is discovered, and top-off as necessary. We have customers, who owned GM vehicles, who were told by their GM auto dealership that GM would […]

Stored Equipment Requires Preparation to Ensure It’s Protected

Rust, Corrosion and Degraded Fuel Can Attack Unprepared Equipment in Storage With winter approaching, many of you will be putting equipment such as motorcycles, lawnmowers and personal watercraft into storage. Though it can be tempting to park it out of sight after the final use and hope it starts again next season, such action (or inaction) can have serious consequences. Engines left unprepared for storage can suffer from fuel degradation, condensation and corrosion. The results can lead to poor performance, costly repairs or replacement, so it makes sense (and cents) to prepare equipment for the off-season so it’s protected and […]

API Reveals Nearly 20 Percent of Bulk Oils Fail Performance Standards

API Reveals Nearly 20 Percent of Bulk Oils Fail Performance Standards 20% of Bulk Oils not up to Minimum Standards, says API Bulk motor oil testing performed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) indicates many motorists may be receiving substandard motor oil when they drop their vehicles off for an oil change. According to the API, it purchased and tested over 1,000 samples from bulk motor oil tanks throughout North America over the past five years, and nearly 20 percent failed API performance standards.”API is concerned about the high levels of failure we are finding in our audit results,” said […]

AMSOIL: Beyond Conventional

AMSOIL: Beyond Conventional AMSOIL has always been unconventional. AMSOIL’s founder held an unconventional belief in synthetic motor oil when no other lubricant company did. It became official when AMSOIL introduced the world’s first synthetic motor oil to meet API service requirements. AMSOIL holds a commitment to being, and is, formulated, blended and packaged in the USA. AMSOIL believes in field-testing every product it creates and in walking the walk. Watch this video for a look into the history of AMSOIL and the spirit of AMSOIL’s founder, Albert J. Amatuzio. AMSOIL, beyond conventional. (5min 52sec) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W0n7JxMiPg

GTL (Gas-to-Liquid) Technology

AMSOIL Update on Pennzoil’s “motor oil reimagined” Marketing Campaign Pennzoil’s “motor oil reimagined” marketing campaign is based on gas-to-liquid (GTL) base oil technology. Consumers should be aware that GTL technology is simply a process that converts natural gas, obtained by Pennzoil from Qatar, into Group III base oil. Because motor oils are formulated with GTL does not mean they outperform other synthetic formulated oils. There is no magic base oil that elevates one motor oil over all others. It’s the precise combination of quality base oils and additives that defines motor oil performance, and AMSOIL motor oils are built on […]

Why Cold-Flow Properties Make a Difference for Snowmobiles

For Snowmobiles, Why Cold-Flow Properties Make a Difference Two- and four-stroke snowmobiles use different oiling systems, but both require oils with excellent cold-flow properties for maximum protection.    Today’s two-stroke snowmobiles direct less oil to critical components, through narrower passages, for longer distances. Oils that thicken at cold temperatures are difficult to pump and can fail to reach components at startup.  Four-stroke engines, meanwhile, are splash-lubricated. Thick oil can cause difficult starts while failing to properly lubricate at startup, increasing engine wear.  AMSOIL synthetic two- and four-stroke snowmobile oils feature outstanding cold-flow properties for maximum engine protection in the coldest […]

AMSOIL Offshore Racer Bob Teague Rebuilds Program

AMSOIL Offshore Racer Bob Teague Rebuilds Program Team AMSOIL offshore racer Bob Teague has rebuilt his program after a year of upheaval and uncertainty. In 2013, the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) and Super Boat International (SBI) introduced extremely different engine rules that were a stark contrast to the large twin 525’s that Teague successfully used for years. Knowing he faced the ominous task of completely rebuilding his engine program, a costly endeavor, Teague decided it was best to wait out the changes and see which series would rise with the tide. Teague and long-time driver Paul Whittier made their 2014 […]
